Rama Asmani's journey from a childhood refugee to a community leader in Lexington has profoundly shaped his vision for mayor. After fleeing the Second Congo War and eventually losing his sight, his life was rebuilt when he and his family were resettled in Lexington, Kentucky in 2013.

He graduated from Dunbar High School and, inspired by the community's support, found his passion in public service. Rama is running for mayor to ensure that every resident of Lexington, regardless of their background or challenge, has the same opportunity for a safe, stable, and hopeful life that his family found here.
